Social media analytics — an important thing for a brand to look at, because it helps put into perspective what data can do to help a brand … Enter R coding — a way to analyze tweets from users to see how they talk about Nintendo and a competitor like PlayStation.

twitter profiling

How often are Twitter/X users tweeting about PlayStation and Nintendo?

My group and I used R coding to determine this, along with identifying keywords and top influencers in the gaming space who tweet about each brand. According to the graph to your right, around Valentine’s Day, PlayStation tweets have soared. Maybe this could be due to the fact that it can be a great gift for a loved one!

Why is this important?

To know how your brand compares to others in the same market, it is important to understand what keywords are associated with your brand as well as key players in the industry. Knowing this can mean a better social media campaign, potential collaborations, and more! Insights such as these are key to a great campaign.

sentiment analysis

Why might Nintendo, in comparison, have more talk around January 30th? Could it be gathering a group of friends and family to play on the console, such as the Nintendo Switch? This could be a great insight for a social media marketing campaign. The number of tweets around Valentine’s Day, as well, can indicate a potential for a new campaign focusing on couples.

Want to know how people feel about your brand? Sentiment analysis would be a great gauge to see how your audience is feeling about your brand.
